Early Paper Money of America / New Jersey / 1757 June 14

£5,000 as the Sixth War Issue of Bills of Credit was authorized by the June 3, 1757 Act to be legal tender until June 14, 1762 and invalid after Nov. 14, 1762. The weight equivalent in silver is the same as provided for prior issues. See July 2, 1746 issue for denominational symbols. The faces of the £6 are printed in red and black and of the others in black. Sage leaf backs are in black. Printed by James Parker. Signers were Hugh Hartshorne, Joseph Hollinshead, A. Johnston, Samuel Nevill, Samuel Smith, and John Smyth.
