Early Paper Money of America / Rhode Island / 1715 July 5 and 1726 June 14, both redated 1731

£60,000 in indented Bills of Credit issued pursuant to the June 1731 and Oct. 1731 Acts for 5% 10 year delayed amortization mortgage loans and known as the Fourth Bank. Silver was then valued at 22s per ounce. The date "1731" was added to the same face plates as were used for the 1728 re-dating without disturbing the prior dates. The bills were printed by Samuel Vernon. There was £2,500 in 10s and lower denominations. Signers were Jahleel Brenton, William Coddington, George Goulding, Daniel Updike, Gideon Wanton, and John Wanton.
