At one time Robert J. Dodge was a mystery at the American Numismatic Society. He served as theirsecond president during the Civil War but dropped from sight after the war. Later attempts to track himwere not successful.
I took up the challenge on Friday, December 18, and found results in frequently used biographicalsources.
The findagrave site lists Robert Johnson Dodge, born at Long Island City on May 4, 1825, and died inBrooklyn on June 30, 1892. The site also lists his parents, four siblings, wife and son for anyone whowants to look him up.
The Social Security Death Index confirms his dates of birth and death. In addition, it lists his professionas surveyor which matches information from the ANS.
