Katherine Davalos Ortega
Born in Tularosa, New Mexico. Graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in 1957. President of the Santa Ana State Bank in 1973, the first woman president of a California bank. She had served as a commissioner of the Copyright Royalty Tribunal in 1982. She was an organizer of the Otero Savings and Loan Association of Almagordo, New Mexico. Unmarried.
Active in Republican party politics. She delivered the keynote address at the 1984 Republican National Convention. She served as Treasurer of the U. S. from September 23, 1983, to 1989. Her signature appears on Federal Reserve Notes, series of 1981-A and 1985.
