Joseph E. Ralph

Biography

Director of BEP  (b. 8/22/1863 d. 12/30/1922)

                Born in Allegheney County, Pennsylvania. Married to Elizabeth M. Woods with a son.

                Superintendent of Construction at Ellis Island. Deputy Collector of Customs at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1892.

                He served as 12th Director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing from May 11, 1908, through October 31, 1917.  He resigned to become president of the United States Intaglio Company. Later assistant to the president of U.S. Steel Corporation.

                He died in Washington, D.C.
