Albert L. Baber

Biography

Married to Dorothy Baber and father of Larry Baber and with two daughters. Employed in the aerospace industry with General Dynamics. 

He suffered a heart attack at age 36. While he was recovering in a hospital, his wife gave him a Whitman folder to fill with cents. It got him started collecting coins. 

General chairman of the 1968 ANA convention in San Diego. Served on U. S. Assay Commission in 1969. Received Krause Publications Numismatic Ambassador Award in 1983. He also received the ANA Medal of Merit, Glenn Smedley Award and ANA Presidential Award.

He died in a hospital in El Cajon, California after suffering another heart attack. He was a 33rd degree Mason.
