John "J.J." Jacob Van Grover
Biography
Born in Brooklyn. He served with the U.S. Navy and was deployed to Korea in 1951-52. Married to Lydia with two daughters. The ANA exhibit award for Young Numismatists display of Israel or Judaic items is named in honor of their daughter, Melissa Van Grover.
Coin dealer for more than 40 years. Served as vice president of the American Israel Numismatic Association. He received the ANA Glenn Smedley Award (1996) and Medal of Merit (1998). He was named a Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador in 2000.
He died in New York.
