Henry Voigt [Voight]
Biography
Born in Germany. Employed as a clockmaker. Married with children. Partner with John Fitch to build steamboats. In 1791 he received a patent for boats propelled by cattle.
Appointed as Chief Coiner of the Mint by President Washington January 29, 1793, and served until his death. He was responsible for construction of the buildings and much of the early mint machinery.
