Douglas Bleakley Ball

Biography

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, son of George W. Ball. Served in U.S. Army Reserve 1964 to 1985. Received A.B. from Wooster in 1961, M.A. from Yale in 1962, MBA from Columbia in 1969 and Ph.D. from the University of London in 1974.

President of NASCA 1976 to 1984. Employed as consultant with R.M. Smythe after 1984.

He has contributed several articles to Bank Note Reporter and The Numismatist. Author of Confederate Interim Depository Receipts and Funding Certificates Issued in the Commonwealth of Virginia 1861-1865 published by the Virginia Numismatic Association in 1972. Author of Virginia's 1861-1865 Treasury and Scrip Notes in 1978.

Named a Krause Publications Numismatic Ambassador. In 2015 he was inducted into the SPMC Hall of Fame.
