Walter B. Walter
Received bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Alabama and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. Married to Hazel with two sons. Served as Assistant Alabama State Gealogist, State Geologist and Oil and Gas Supervisor 1924 to 1961. Director of Conservation 1939 to 1940. Served with Atmy Corps of Engineers during World Wars I and II.
Founder of the Alabama Numismatic Society, president, historian and librarian. He served on the Assay Commission in 1968. Member of the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association, Society of Paper Money Collectors and the American Numismatic Association.
He donated his collection of obsolete Alabama and Confederate paper money to the state of Alabama and University of Alabama.
