Born in New York, New York. Received A.A. degree from University of the State of New York in 1975. Married to Phung Thi (Do) Daniel. Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, retired. Systems Analyst with Unisys Corp., retired.

Owner of the Southeast Asian Treasury, a numismatic publisher..

Author of The Catalog and Guidebook of Southeast Asian Coins and Currency : Volume I: French Southeast Asia Coins & Currenty (1975); Volume II: Empire of Viet Nam Coins and Currency (1992), Volume II, Part 2: Republic of Vietnam Coin & Currency; Volume II, Part 3: Democratic Republic of Viet Nam Coins and Currency (1995), Part 4: Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Coins and Currency (2009)..

Author of Cambodian Coins & Currency (Volume III); Lao Coins & Currency (Volume IV); Burma / Myanmar Coins & Currency (Volume V).

Past President of the Heidelberg German-American Coin Club. Director and 1st Vice President, International Bank Note Society. Named a Numismatic Ambassador in 2004. He received an ANA Presidential Award and the ANA Glenn Smedley Award in 2008. In 2017 he was inducted into the IBNS Hall of Fame.

A premature obituary for him was published in The Numismatist for November, 2007.
