Abraham Wolfe Davidson

Biography

Born in Vitebsk, Russia;came to America in 1922. Attended the Russian National Art School. Later he attended Clemson College and the Art Students League. At age 25 he was an invalid from the aftereffects of the 1917 Russian famine. Taught at Greenville (SC) High School. He started an art gallery that became the Greenville County (SC) Museum of Art. He died at home in Gainsville, Georgia.

He designed the Columbia, South Carolina, Sesquicentennial half dollar struck in 1936.
