Beth H. Deisher


Editor, Coin World (b. 4/29/1946)

                Born Elizabeth Hurdle in North Carolina. Graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Married to Arthur with a son. Employed with the Star Ledger in Norfolk, Virginia, 1969 to 1972. She was later editor of VEA News, a publication of the Virginia Education Association. She was feature editor of The Virginia Journal of Education. Served as news editor of The Sidney Daily News.

                She joined the staff of Coin World in March 1981 as news editor and became executive editor in June 1984. Appointed Editor of Coin World replacing Margo Russell effective March 1, 1985. She retired in 2012. In 2013 she began contributing the “From the memory Bank” column to Coin World.

                She received the Glenn Smedley Memorial Award in 1995, Burnett Anderson Memorial Award for Excellence in Numismatic Writing in 2006. In 2010 she received the American Numismatic Association’s Farran Zerbe Memorial Award for Distinguished Service. In 2015 she received the FUN Numismatic Ambassador Award.
