The 1935 Spanish Trail half dollar saw a low mintage of just about 10,000 pieces and is one of the toughest of the classic commemorative halves to acquire, as it is a low-mintage one-year type. And it is a popular one at that. Designed by L.W. Hoffecker, the 1935 Spanish Trail half dollar honors a topic near and dear to the hearts of many Americans both in the 1930s and today and honors territory spanning several states from the east coast of Florida to the western reaches of Texas. The coin was sold for $2 each.

While Spanish Trail halves see high demand, there are plenty available in the marketplace. Most of those encountered grade from MS63 to MS66, with a scarce supply of MS67s and a very rare few pieces grading MS68 or higher. Many have remained well preserved since their original purchase, with the luster and color quite nice on many of these pieces. PCGS #: 9376 NGC ID: BYJ5
