Sometime in 1835, he issued a new series of coins with fineness of both 20 carats (CAROLINA GOLD) and 22 carats (GEORGIA GOLD). While engraving this new product line, he replaced the gold dollar obverse die, centering the “28.G.” This variety seems to have been issued for around a year.
