      General Notes: In 1849, Moffat & Company began striking $10 eagles, the earliest of which used reverse dies with “TEN DOL.” At the bottom. The first of these, Kagin-6, has the period after GOLD placed below the middle arrowhead, and is quite rare, with only four examples currently reported (F-15, XF45, AU50, and MS62).
