General Notes: The 1860 Mormon half eagle obverse features a crouching lion and the motto HOLINESS TO THE LORD written in the Desert alphabet. The reverse depicts a beehive and eagle at its center with the denomination 5.D and the legend DESERET ASSAY OFFICE PURE GOLD around the periphery.
