Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty striding toward the rising sun with 13 rays, carrying branches of laurel and oak in her left hand, her right hand outstretched with palm forward. Behind her, a cape in the form of a flag with 13 stars. The figure is tall, with head nearly touching the top border. In the right field is LIBERTY in large letters,8 below which is IN GOD WE TRUST in thick medium-size letters. The date 1916 is centered at the bottom border. Reverse Description: Similar to the regular die, but with some slight differences due to the size reduction process and lack of details in cutting the hub. With AW monogram as approved by the secretary of the Treasury on August 10, 1916. General Notes: 1916 Half Dollar. Believed to have been struck after August 21 and before September 20, 1916.
