The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter. General Notes: The 1917-S Lincoln cent is a semi-key coin in all grades and becomes notably scarce at a grade level as low as XF40. Red uncirculated examples are rare and would require much searching to locate one even in the MS63-64 range. Only a few dozen examples are believed to exist at the MS65RD level and but a tiny handful are known in or approaching the grade of MS66RD.
