The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter. General Notes: By the 1940s, the mintages of some Lincoln cents began approaching 1 billion, eventually topping that figure before the end of World War II. These high production figures mean pretty much all Lincoln cents made during the 1940s are extremely common, and that's certainly the case with the 1941 Philadelphia cent.
