General Notes: The 1940-D Lincoln cent is a very common coin, offering a multitude of survivors in every grade level spanning from the low-end circulated grades up through Gem levels, including MS66. In the MS67 range, the 1940-D becomes tougher; there are just a handful of pieces that grade higher than that, with registry set collectors paying high premiums for pieces that approach MS68 quality.
