General Notes: Struck from regular dies. Four known pieces are in the form of undertypes on 1795 half cents (the half cents being the Cohen-6a variety, the undertype half dollars being the Overton-101, -104, -105, and -105a die combinations). These half dollars were struck as die trials, and afterward planchets to strike half cents were cut from them. However, certain features of the half dollar inscriptions can still be discerned. In addition, there are two intact specimens (not cut down for use as a half cent) in the Smithsonian Institution and in a Vienna museum, dies of Overton-109 with lettered edges.
