The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM appears near the top between the wreath and letters STATES OF AME. General Notes: The majority of the first year issue V Nickels were minted in very large quantities to fix the NO CENTS problem. This boasts the highest mintage for its entire series with 6,783 pieces struck. Common without cameo designations except for the finest of gems.
