General Notes: The 1913-D Type 2 Buffalo nickel is a scarce key-date coin, with far fewer available examples than the issue’s mintage figure may suggest. While 4,156,000 examples were minted, experts believe perhaps only 10,000 exist across all grades, and fewer than 20% of those in uncirculated grades. As was typical for the period, few mintmarked specimens were saved by the collectors, and is challenging to find in decent circulated grades. However, in uncirculated grades the coin is about as rare as many other early mintmarked Buffalo nickels and is generally found well struck. PCGS #: 3922 NGC ID: 22R2
