General Notes: The 1995 doubled die exhibits strong doubling in the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, with doubling evident to the naked eye. This variety is considered the last doubled die of its kind, as soon after the creation of this error the Philadelphia and Denver Mints moved to a single hub procedure that eliminated the creation of doubled die varieties. The discovery of the 1995 doubled die cent during the spring of that year led to many media stories about this error. While considered rare at first, tens of thousands of examples turned up and this coin became widely available, and it remains relatively affordable. PCGS #: 38104 NGC ID: 22JS
