The date is placed on the lower left of the chieftain's bust. Reverse Description: A full portrait of the bison, Black Diamond, with the words UNITED STATES oF AMERICA at the top periphery with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM just underneath. The denomination FIVE CENTS is spelled out at the bottom. For the Type 1, the denomination is embossed on a flat surface. General Notes: With its mintage of 10,30,000, the 1935-S Buffalo nickel has proven tougher than several other 1930s S-mint issues within the series, but is nonetheless not an outright impossible coin like so many of the 1920s San Francisco nickels seem to be, especially when referring to Gems.
