The word LIBERTY appears on the top periphery surrounded by stars. The date is stamped on the right side of the coin, just above the rock. Reverse Description: A crescent sun appears at the bottom as if rising on the horizon with long rays extending to the top of the coin. A flying eagle covers the central portion, atop the rays. The words UNITED STATES oF AMERICA, TWENTY DOLLARS appear on the top periphery. General Notes: One of the most frequently encountered Saint-Gaudens coins is the 1924 Philly $20. Plentiful in circulated condition and even up to Gem, one who seeks an example -- even an especially nice piece -- should have little trouble locating it. MS66s are readily available, and there is a small but significant supply of MS67s. A tiny handful of examples are known in higher grades, and these often trade for huge premiums, particularly when registry set collectors get involved in the bidding.
