The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR. General Notes: This Morgan dollar is a popular date as both a first-year issue and more particularly a first-year Morgan from the Carson City Mint. While scarce in comparison to many other Morgan dollars from other mints, the 1878-CC is common enough to satisfy collector demand and can be found with relative easy in circulated and uncirculated grades through the mid-range Gem levels. There is a huge jump in price from MS66, in which the coin has many certified examples, to MS67, where only a relative handful are known.
