UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is written around the periphery with the date at the bottom. General Notes: The numeral 6 in the date is out of normal alignment, appearing to tilt to the left. Two die varieties exist for the 1916-S ten-centavo coin. One has a straighter numeral 6 in the date. The other, traditionally thought to be scarcer, has a tilted 6. This was made in the era of hand-worked dies, where a mint technician would punch numerals and other elements into the working dies for coinage, which could result in discrepancies. Check your 1916-S twenty-centavos; even those that are slabbed might not be correctly attributed by variety. PCGS #: 512190 NGC ID: 2C9B
