Description Franklin Mint Silver Medals Medallic History of the United StatesFrom the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 to the Bicentennial preparations of 1975, the series of 200 medals highlights the major events of each intervening year. Every medal is hallmarked STERLING on the edge and numbered. Struck in deep cameo Proof format, the 45 mm. medals each contain one troy ounce of silver and are individually protected in two-part plastic capsules. Ten framed display boards hold 20 medals each, and fit into a slotted wooden case. The medals are essentially untoned and brilliant with thickly frosted devices. Each of the display boards has a moderate bow and the case has a few light stains, but the medals are essentially pristine and the set is complete.
