Thomas William Becker

Biography

Born in St. Louis, Missouri. Served in the Navy 1951 to 1954. Received B.A. from the University of Missouri in 1958. He taught history and geography near St. Louis 1959 to 1966. Married Marilyn Ruth Merkel in 1957. They have four children. 

In 1966 he was appointed assistant director of the Money Museum of the Detroit National Bank following the promotion of Charles Hoskins. On August 1, 1968, he joined the editorial staff of Krause Publications. Editor of Coins magazine and Coin Collector and Shopper. He is a member of the NLG. 

In 1970 he was named Vice President of International Program Development Corporation. 

He contributed articles to Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine. Author of the Puffin Coins of Lundy (1961); Art in Commemorative Coins (1962); Pageant of World Commemorative Coins (1962); The Coin Makers (1969). Author of Confessions of a Coin Dealer published in 1991.
