Attended Grand Valley State College 1965-1967. Graduated from University of Michigan with BS in zoology (1969); Michigan State University PhD. in 1975. Professor at Howard University 1975 to 2011. Married to Susan in 2002.
Past president of Early American Coppers. Co-author of Grading Guide for Early American Copper Coins, Author of The Half Cent, 1793-1857: The Story of America’s Greatest Little Coin (2019). Member of the Rittenhouse Society.
