    mbers can t find the books they need to refer to What is the Liberty Seated collector to do especially those new to the field From Don Bennett I consider myself new to Lib erty Seated coinage and can attest to the difficulties one faces in building a numismatic library It does take a bit of perseverance but most reference books can be obtained at reasonable prices The exceptions include the Wiley Bugert Complete Guide to Lib erty Seated Half Dollars practically unavailable at any price and Bowers 2 volume Silver Dollars Trade Dollars of the United States A Complete En cyclopedia available but not cheap Unless you are willing to shell out nearly 600 for the set you are better off obtaining Bowers historical treatment of silver dollars for the bargain price of round trip

    wo sizes The older size utilized larger coins in the denominations of 1 00 50 and 25 For example the dollar was 35 millimeter as was Ingle System checks In late 1921 Insurance Credit began using smaller checks for these denominations These were the same sizes as used by the Osborne Register Company later and was mostly influenced by the fact that Ed Ingle bought issuing registers from Wiley Os borne after mid 1921 There is an interesting story about the thinner 18 gauge or 20 gauge checks and the success of Page 150 Osborne Register Co which might be related at this time rather than in the next installment of this series Osborne had a great deal of trouble with machine malfunctions of the issuing register It seems that it would continually be jammed by the thin checks in use
