Martin
Born in the Bronx, New York. Served in the Army Signal Corps in Vietnam 1966-68.
A significant influence in the collecting of colonial coins, with a focus on Connecticut coppers and Massachusetts silver. An early EAC and C4 member, was the primary statistician for Connecticut coppers from the 1970s to 2010s, known for collecting pieces with superior color and surfaces on a blue collar budget. He generally shied away from directly authoring articles, but was a prominent influence and resource in the US colonial hobby at large, assisting research and articles behind the scenes with a strong knowledge base and photographic memory.
His collection of Connecticut coppers and Massachusetts silver was sold at auction by Stacks Bowers on November 19, 2019, and March 18, 2020.
He died in the Bronx. His 3100 page personal “scissor cut and paste” binders documenting Connecticut coppers were highly sought when sold as part of his estate. They have been scanned by the Newman Numismatic Portal and donated to the American Numismatic Society.
