Bill Eckberg (2020)
The War of 1812 left the Mint with some silver and gold but no copper planchets until the end of 1815. After a fire destroyed the rolling mills in January of 1816 so no silver gold could be coined, The Mint began coining cents. The cents were dated 1814. Presenting: Bill Eckberg, past president of Early American Coppers. This presentation was part of the 2020 Newman Numismatic Portal Sympsosium, held virtually, August 28-30, 2020.
