Book Summary

Two volumes, bound in one. Folio [40.5 by 30.5 cm], contemporary black cloth-backed marbled boards. (4), 41, (1); (4), (43)–188; (2) pages; 125 lithographic or engraved plates (see comments). Binding worn, with cloth at head of spine frayed; some spotting. Very good. Rare: the first original copy we have handled since the Kreindler Library in 2014. The first part is devoted to aes rude, aes signatum and aes grave, and 70 of the well-produced lithographic plates are devoted to these pieces. The plates to the second part, on struck coinage, are engraved. Clain-Stefanelli 2043: “An old but still useful collection of material.” Daehn 2655.
