Overton, Albert

Born in Coos Bay, Oregon. Married to Canzada with two daughters.

He became a dealer in 1940. Also DBA The Coin Shop. Resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served on the Assay Commission for 1971. Overton conducted auction sales from 1940 to 1965. Gengerke lists more than 40 sales including the American Numismatic Association convention sales of 1963 and 1965.

Founder and past president of the Southern Colorado Numismatic Association. Past president of the Professional Numismatists Guild.

Author of Early Half Dollar Die Varieties, 1794-1836 in 1967.The heirs sold the Overton half dollar reference collection to Sheridan Downey in 1993. Downey placed the collection with an unidentified buyer later in 1993.

He received the ANA Medal of Merit in 1967. In 2012 he was inducted into the ANA Hall of Fame, He was also inducted into the JRCS Hall of Fame in 2013.

He died in a hospital in Colorado Springs.
