Bugert, William
Born in Toledo, Ohio. Graduated with a B.S. in Physics from John Carroll University, University Heights, OH in 1973; M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA in 1992.
Married to the former Judy Butscher in Neu Ulm, Federal Republic of Germany, in 1979. No children. U.S. Army Signal Corps Officer from 1973 to 1996; Senior Satellite Systems Engineer and Program Manager, Northup Grumman from 1996 to 2007; independent consulting and part time jobs.
Bugert is a lifelong collector and has collected and researched Liberty Seated Halves since the mid-1970s. Other interests include information on Martin Luther Beistle, whom Bugert has extensively researched and written.
Authored with Randy Wiley of The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Half Dollars (1993). Author of A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties, Volume I, San Francisco Branch Mint (2009); A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties Volume II, Carson City Branch Mint (2010); A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties Volume III, New Orleans Branch Mint - 1840 thru 1853-O No Arrows (2011).
Vice President of the Liberty Seated Collectors Club and Editor of the LSCC monthly electronic newsletter, The E-Gobrecht. Recipient of numerous awards from the LSCC, John Reich Collectors Society, Numismatic Literary Guild, and the Numismatic Bibliomania Society. In 2017 he was inducted into the LSCC Hall of Fame. In 2025 he received the Adna G. Wilde Memorial Award for Exemplary Service.
