Forrer, Leonard

Leonard Forrer , also Leonhard Forrer, was a Swiss-British coin dealer and numismatist. In 1887 he came as a student to England, where he began working for the company Spink & Son in 1889.  Soon he headed the coin department and made it one of the most important numismatic firms in the world. He began issuing the Numismatic Circular in 1893. His Biographical Dictionary of Medallists, an 8-volume series, is of great importance.  His son, Leonard S. Forrer, was also active in numismatics.
