Born in Bow Center, New Hampshire. Resident of Boston. Married to Mary Elizabeth "Lizzy" Emery (1847-1890).
Compiler of Heath's Infallible Counterfeit Detector at Sight and later Heath's Greatly Improved and Enlarged Infallible Government Counterfeit Detector at Sight in many editions 1864 to 1889.
He prepared The American Bond Detector and Complete History of all the United States Securities. It was poorly printed and never released to the public.
He died at home in Revere, Massachusetts.
