    4to [21 by 17 cm], contemporary brown pasteboard; green morocco spine label, gilt; hand-lettered cover label. (4), viii, (4), 418, (2) pages; finely engraved numismatic vignette by Gottfried August Grndler on title; woodcut initials, headpieces and tailpieces; occasional numismatic engravings in the text; 5 attractively engraved plates by Grandler depicting ancient Greek and Roman coins. Moderate edge wear to binding; some browning. Very good or better. All published, though a German edition was published in 1750-1751. Michael Gottlieb Agnethler (1719-1752), was a medical doctor, botanist, professor, and numismatist of Transylvanian Saxon background. A student of Johann Heinrich Schulze (1687-1744), Agnethler attended his lectures on numismatics and eventually catalogued this important coin collection, mainly comprised of ancient Greek and Roman Republican coins.
