Doughty, Francis

Born ca. 1850, d. 1917

Described as "a hack writer of fiction for boys." He is credited with 1500 novels Author of Mirrikh: or a Woman from Mars: a Tale of Occult Adventure (1892); How to Collect Stamps and Coins. He completed the unfinished work of Proskey describing large cents. Author of The Cents of the United States in 1890. Some of his coins were consigned for auction by New York Coin & Stamp April 14-16, 1891. More were in three Elder sales in 1909. Another group was sold at auction by United States Coin January 22, 1914.
