Weckenpfennige
The name given to small uniface coins of Bavaria, the Pala- tinate, etc., struck early in the fifteenth century. The word " Wecken " corre- sponds to our heraldic term paly-bendy, and these coins are easily distinguished by a shield, the field of which is divided by lines drawn in the directions of the pale and bend.
