Wespenthaler
A silver coin struck in 1599 by Duke Henry Julius of Brunswick-Luneburg. It has on the obverse a lion with twelve wasps flying around its head and body. The coin is a satirical one, and the insects are supposed to represent certain rebel- lious subjects of the Duke.
