A base silver coin of Freistadt in Silesia, issued during the sixteenth century. It has on the obverse the letter M, generally supposed to stand for the princess Mechtildis, and on the re- verse a tower, from which it obtains its name. See Friedensburg, Schlesien's Neu- ere Munzgeschichte , 1899 (No. 638).
