Pada

Authorities differ as to whether this is a weight or a coin. In the Maha Vagga, edited by Mr. Dickson in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society (1875), occurs a liturgy used at the admission of layment to the Buddhist order of mendicants, and he translates Pada as the quarter of a Pagoda. Other writers recognize it as a weight of small value. For a full account of this subject, the reader is referred to the work by Rhys Davids (sec. 4).
