Diadem

Diadem.  Ornamental headband or fillet originally worn by royalty but occasionally found in numismatic designs, sometimes lettered. Also a diadem is a small crown, higher

in the front than in the back. Queen Victoria has been described as a diademed head wearing a coronet with a diadem. Otherwise a diadem worn by a female is called a stephane.
