Draw, Drawing

Draw, Drawing.  A progressive form of tempering ideally suited for hardening dies. Instead of uniformly tempering steel – as with most modern methods – drawing starts at

the bottom of a die and hardens it by stages up to the face of the die; it draws up the color during heat treating. The process had been employed by die makers for centuries using what may seem like primitive methods.
