Hybrid

Hybrid.  Mismated obverse and reverse. See mule, muling. A hybrid occurs when an obverse die is struck with a reverse die not originally intended. Obviously both have to be the same diameter and available at the same time and place, that is, in use by the same mint or medallic company. The German word is zeitter.
