Lead Form

Lead Form.  A chuck or holding device molded in lead form one side of a round medal to hold an untrimmed medal in a lathe for turning off; also called form mold. The trimming removes flash from large round medals struck from open face dies without a collar (splash striking). Such trimming would only be done on round medals of two inches or greater diameter. See form mold.
